About The Position

Atrium Health is seeking a GI Motility Faculty Physician to join our Gastroenterology & Hepatology team in Charlotte, NC. This position is affiliated with the new Atrium Health - Wake Forest University medical school opening in 2025 and offers a unique opportunity to be part of one of the few hybrid motility programs in the country. The role involves providing direct inpatient and outpatient care to GI patients at the Morehead Medical Plaza, which houses over 30 physicians and 35 APPs. The position is a full-time faculty role at the Associate/Assistant Professor/Professor level, with responsibilities including reading motility studies, providing outpatient clinical and endoscopic services, and teaching on inpatients.

Requirements

• MD/DO Degree and ACGME US internal medicine internship and residency.
• Completed 3-year ACGME US gastroenterology/hepatology fellowship.
• Provide case logs for core and non-core endoscopic procedures (2 years), including motility studies.
• Valid American Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology (or board eligible).
• Valid unrestricted North Carolina Medical License or eligible to apply.
• Valid DEA licensure.
• Must maintain CME to meet institutional and state licensing requirements.
• Current ACLS and BLS certification required.
• Excellent clinical knowledge and experience to provide safe and quality care to patients.
• Previous experience reading motility studies and overseeing studies performed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct inpatient and outpatient care to GI patients at MMP clinics.
• Read motility studies including those performed by hospital ancillary staff.
• Provide outpatient clinical and endoscopic services.
• Rounding and teaching on inpatients at MMP clinics.
• Interpret hydrogen breath tests for patients requiring these services.
• Participate in weekly, holiday, and weekend call proportionate to other GI providers.
