This temporary position is located in Black Mountain - Buncombe County. Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $50.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health and Human Services. This position is located at 201 Tabernacle Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711. This is professional work providing psychiatric/mental health care involving patient assessments Practitioners have knowledge of psychopharmacology, the study of indications, actions, risks, and side effects of psychiatric drugs used independently and in combination with other drugs. Job duties include but may not be limited to: Ordering labs. Making referrals to other medical providers. Prescribing psychiatric mediations. Overseeing patients’ physical and mental health. Must be trained in psychiatric/mental health. Work is performed in state facilities, public health programs, correctional units and other clinic settings. Work is performed in collaboration with a psychiatrist. Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. Requirements

  • Must be trained in psychiatric/mental health.
  • Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the North Carolina Medical Board or approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the North Carolina Medical Board.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associate personnel, patients, and their families, and the general public.
