About The Position

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for an Emergency Medicine Staff Physician to join our School of Medicine team at UNM. This opportunity is a on-call PRN day or night shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Summary Under indirect supervision, provides and manages direct health care for a specified patient population. About the Emergency Medicine Team with UNM School of Medicine: The University of New Mexico, Department of Emergency Medicine, is seeking on-call physicians. In addition to supporting our EM residency program the on-call physicians will provide clinical care in both our academic and community hospital facilities. The Department of Emergency Medicine has 72 full-time and part-time attending physicians, and is home to an outstanding EM Residency, EMS Academy and Center for Disaster Medicine. UNM Health System is New Mexico's only Level I Trauma Center, UNM Childrens Hospital, home to the only Burn Center, and the state's first Comprehensive Stroke Center. UNM Health System providers specialize in over 150 areas and receive 900,000 outpatient visits, 22,000 surgical cases and 100,000 emergency room visits each year. Requirements

Medical doctor with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty.
State of New Mexico and Federal DEA Certification
Medical Specialty License or Certification
Board Certified or Board Eligible in specified area of medical specialty.
Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.

Responsibilities

Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.
Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.
Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
