About The Position

We are seeking a Physician Credentialing Manager, sometimes referred to as a Provider Credentialing Manager or Credentialing Manager. The Physician Credentialing Manager, will manage the administrative and logistical aspects of verifying healthcare providers credentials to ensure they meet all required standards key duties include processing applications, maintaining accurate provider files and databases, tracking certifications, and facilitating communication between providers, committees, and regulatory bodies. The Physician Credentialing Manager will require strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills to ensure the organizations compliance and the providers ability to practice. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent education/experience
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS), or equivalent, required within a year of employment
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a hospital with 2 years’ full time experience in the Medical Staff Services Department as a Medical Staff Manager or Medical Staff Coordinator
  • Must have strong computer, communication and writing skills with knowledge of medical terminology
  • To move forward in this position you must have some experience with Provider Credentials for Medical Privileges with Medical Staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from the National Association of Medical Staff Services as Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM), preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage medical staff credentialing and re-credentialing to ensure all providers are qualified and authorized to practice
  • Maintain and update all provider files including licenses, certifications, DEA, board status and other required documents
  • Coordinate medical staff committees and meetings such as MEC, Credentials Committee, and Peer Review
  • Oversee medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, policies and ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, state law and hospital standards
  • Conduct and support quality/peer review activities including case review, performance monitoring and OPPE/FPPE tracking
  • Serve as liaison between hospital administration and medical staff leadership and provide support to department chairs and chiefs for provider performance, privileging and corrective actions
