About The Position

The Core Faculty Family Medicine position at Ascension St. Joseph Chicago is a full-time role focused on teaching and providing comprehensive medical care within the Family Medicine Residency Program. The position emphasizes a collaborative environment dedicated to medical education, patient care, and community service, particularly in medically underserved areas. The faculty member will engage in curriculum development, patient evaluations, and administrative responsibilities while also providing direct patient care.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
• Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained prior to hire date.
• Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in curriculum development and faculty development.
• Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating residents in ACGME competency areas.
• Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
• Recommend and participate in efforts to improve cost-effectiveness and quality of care.
• Accept patient referrals from other physicians.
• Act as admitting, attending, and/or consulting physician for hospitalized patients.
• Participate in academic programs including medical education and scholarly activity.
• Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements and appeal denials in a timely manner.
• Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultations for specialty care.
