About The Position

The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute is a pioneer in personalized cancer medicine and an international leader in cancer research and treatment. The Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology comprises specialists dedicated to providing the best possible care for patients with cancer and blood disorders. The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute within Community Hematology Oncology (CHO), is hiring Providers for the following locations: Breast Oncology Specialist/Lead (Specific Practice Locations TBD) - We are seeking a physician to develop and expand our NAPBC-accredited breast cancer program within the community setting, working closely with medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, and other key stakeholders to enhance access and coordination of care. Portland Metro-East Community Hematology Oncology (CHO) Clinics, Tualatin Community Hematology Oncology (CHO) Clinics. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor to further the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service. It is anticipated the position will be made up of the following components: Clinical and In-Patient Service. Teaching and Research/Academic pursuits may occur.

Requirements

  • MD, MD/PhD, DO, MBBS, MBBCh
  • Medical oncologist/hematologist licensed to practice medicine in Oregon; Board certified/board eligible in medical oncology/hematology.
  • Desire to practice in a community-based clinical environment as part of an academic health care system.

  • Physician leadership experience demonstrates the background, focus, and drive to excel, as well as the ability to provide excellent clinical care to cancer patients in the community setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support the mission, goals, and objectives of OHSU, The Knight Cancer Institute, The Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology which includes the Community Hematology Oncology (CHO) Section and the School of Medicine.
  • Care of patients with hematologic and oncologic disease at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, Beaverton location, and possibly other practice locations as needed.
  • Participate with other Division and CHO staff and provider teams as needed.
  • Participate in administrative committees and councils of OHSU, Legacy, and other community partners as approved by the Division Head and Section Chief.
  • Engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups with the knowledge and consent of the Division Head and Section Chief.
  • Participate, as desired, in the education of medical students and house staff.
  • Assure that every patient has an opportunity to be considered for a clinical trial.
