About The Position

The position is a full-time role within the Enterprise Revenue Cycle - Facility Coding Academy, offering a flexible first shift schedule and 100% remote work. The role involves working closely with professional coding teammates to provide impactful coding education and training, particularly in complex medical specialties.

Requirements

  • Coding Associate (CCA) certification or equivalent from AHIMA or AAPC.
  • Advanced training beyond High School in Medical Coding Specialist.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in medical coding, including experiences in physician revenue cycle processes and health information workflows.
  • Expert knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Expert knowledge in principles of adult learning concepts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with complex medical specialties.
  • Highly developed computer skills including experience in Microsoft Office or similar products.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility in coordinating multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Coding Leadership, IT leadership, Org development, Revenue Cycle leadership, Compliance leadership, etc.
  • Present coding and documentation education, including in-person classes and virtual offerings for initial training and continuing education for coders and clinicians.
  • Identify, trend, and report coder educational needs to ensure appropriate coding and documentation educational opportunities are met.
  • Stay current with trends in adult learning concepts and apply those concepts to education and training.
  • Develop and maintain web-based coding education programs, assign lessons to coders, report results, track progress, and identify further education needs.
  • Create educational programs with established objectives and support e-learning development and other technology-based learning initiatives.
  • Complete all research, writing, and instructions associated with each educational program, including learner manuals and facilitator guides.
  • Provide comprehensive 'train the trainer' sessions for all trainers who will be presenting the material.
