Under the supervision of the physician, provides direct medical care to the patient, instruction to nursing staff and unlicensed personnel, and education to the patient
Requirements
Master’s Degree from an accredited institution required
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program required
Current, valid Physician Assistant licensure in the applicable state required
Must meet all state and regulatory requirements governing the practice of a Physician Assistant
Prior clinical experience in a primary care, specialty, or institutional healthcare setting preferred
Responsibilities
Obtains, evaluates, and records medical histories
Performs physical examinations
Orders necessary testing for routine and acute health care evaluations
Collects specimens, when necessary, for pathologic examinations
Analyzes and interprets data, formulates problem lists, and establishes appropriate plans for the management of clinical problems
Initiates necessary consults to specialists and other health care professionals
Counsels and educates patients on health-related matters
Provide management for acute and chronic illnesses
Prescribes necessary medications, as authorized by law.
Provides consultative services to the Health Services Administrator and designees on patient health-related issues
