About The Position

Hartford Healthcare is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join the Acute Care Surgery team at Backus Hospital. The Physician Assistant will be an essential part of the multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for a wide variety of emergency general surgery and trauma patients. This APP-led team is involved in all aspects of surgical care such as managing surgical inpatients, admissions and consultations, operative first-assist, and bedside procedures. Role: Open to Physician Assistants Location: 326 Washington St, Norwich, CT Setting: Inpatient, General Surgery, Acute Care Trauma Surgery Schedule: Day & Nights rotating position. Including some weekends and holidays. Requirements

  • Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Training: Certified or board-eligible Physician Assistant
  • Experience: New graduates welcome to apply! A comprehensive onboarding will be provided

Responsibilities

  • managing surgical inpatients
  • admissions and consultations
  • operative first-assist
  • bedside procedures
  • perform routine physical examinations
  • formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients
  • develop plans for further evaluation of health needs
  • provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider's practice as designated by protocols
  • identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician
