Physician Assistant w OR First Assist - Cardiothoracic Surgery
About The Position
Provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare services under the supervision of a physician. Obtains patient history and performs assessment. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic procedures. Provides and documents direct treatment and management of health conditions. Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care. Responsible for daily rounding on all in- house patients, outpatients, and surgical first-assist including endoscopic vein/ radial harvest. Additional bedside procedures: chest tube placement, thoracentesis, radial arterial line, central line placement, iabp removal.
Requirements
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Physician Assistant with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
- Physician Assistant with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Michigan Board Physician Assistants Task Force obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
- Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.
