About The Position

Provides medical services to all patients facility-wide, as directed by the Medical Director.

Requirements

• Completion of a professional physician assistant course at an accredited college and certification and licensing by the State of California Board of Medical Examiners as a Physician Assistant - PAC.
• One (1) consecutive year of experience in a medical and/or psychiatric facility with experience in the care of the chemically dependent.

Responsibilities

• Performs physical examinations.
• Diagnoses, treats and prescribes medications under the supervision and written protocol of the Medical Director.
• Orders lab and diagnostic work in compliance with the Medical Director s written protocol for the treatment of specific illnesses or diseases.
• Performs minor lacerations, as ordered and supervised by the Medical Director, according to his/her protocol.
• Able to identify possible infections, report, and document as appropriate; initiate standard precautions if needed.
• Administers waived tests (urine pregnancy test, blood glucose test, breath alcohol test, UA drug screen, hemoglobin [HbA1c], COVID 19 and flu A+B tests, and fentanyl urine screen) and maintains annual waived testing requirements/trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.
