About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our General Surgery team. As a key member of our surgical healthcare professionals, you will work closely with surgeons to provide comprehensive patient care throughout the surgical process. Requirements

  • PA - Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program, minimum Bachelor’s degree required
  • Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification (ACNP)
  • BLS/ACLS/AED training required and accepted from only 1 organization
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program
  • No online programs from any organization will be accepted.
  • DEA registration required for those with discharge responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist surgeons in various general surgery procedures, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, ensuring proper consent and pre-operative assessments.
  • Handle surgical instruments and equipment, maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Conduct patient assessments, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic test interpretation.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Manage pre-operative and post-operative care, addressing patient needs and concerns.
  • Monitor patients in the post-operative period, assessing vital signs and managing pain and complications.
  • Provide patient education on post-operative care, medication management, and potential complications.
  • Assist in coordinating follow-up care and appointments.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families, addressing questions and providing information about surgical procedures and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including surgical notes, progress reports, and treatment plans.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational documentation standards.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations in the surgical setting, demonstrating proficiency in life-saving interventions.
  • Participate in drills and training to enhance emergency preparedness.
