About The Position

The Physician Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with rheumatic diseases, providing comprehensive care and management for conditions such as arthritis, lupus, and other autoimmune disorders. The Physician Assistant will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Education: A Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Certification: Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Licensure: State licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant.
  • Experience: Previous experience in rheumatology or a related field is preferred. Clinical experience in diagnosing and treating rheumatic diseases.
  • Skills: Strong clinical skills, including patient assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment planning. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of rheumatology, including the various rheumatic diseases, treatment options, and patient care techniques.
  • Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advancements in rheumatology.
  • In-depth knowledge of rheumatic diseases and their treatment.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and interpreting their results.
  • Ability to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems, documentation, and Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Conducting patient evaluations, including medical history and physical examinations, to assess and diagnose rheumatic conditions.
  • Diagnostic Tests: Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as X-rays, MRIs, blood tests, and other relevant procedures.
  • Treatment Planning: Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans based on the patient's conditions and needs. This may include prescribing medications, recommending physical therapy, and advising on lifestyle changes.
  • Patient Education: Educating patients and their families about rheumatic diseases, treatment options, medication management, and self-care techniques.
  • Follow-up Care: Monitoring patients' progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary. Conducting follow-up visits to ensure the effectiveness of treatments and to address any complications.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with rheumatologists, other healthcare providers, and specialists to coordinate patient care and optimize treatment outcomes.
  • Research and Continuing Education: Staying up to date with advancements in rheumatology through research, attending conferences, and participating in continuing education opportunities.
  • Administrative Duties: Maintaining accurate patient records, including documentation of medical histories, treatment plans, and follow-up notes. Ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Participate in clinical research and contribute to advancements in rheumatology.
