Our robotic surgery program is experiencing significant growth and continued investment. With the addition of a third surgical robot, the team is inviting an experienced and motivated Physician Assistant to join our team. This expansion offers a unique opportunity to gain advanced surgical experience and be part of a forward-thinking, high-performing Robotic Surgery program. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Physician Assistant to join our expanding Robotic Surgery program. The PA’s schedule will consist of three, 13-hour shifts per week (Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM) with no nights, weekends, holidays, or call responsibilities. The Physician Assistant will be an integral member of the surgical team, supporting a broad range of robotic-assisted procedures across multiple robotic surgical disciplines including but not limited to Thoracic, Colorectal, Urology, Gynecology, and General Surgery. The Physician Assistant will assist in the coordination of the robotics service line within the operating room to include establishing and preparing for the use of Robotics as a mechanism to deliver unique service and surgical care. This includes the planning for and oversight of supplies, equipment, instrumentation, and orientation for the delivery of surgical care across the continuum of Robotic surgery. This candidate will also be involved in the training of Fellows, Residents, PAs, Medical Students and PA Students. Other tasks may include contributing to a robotic database including intra-, peri-, and postoperative outcomes and assistance in clinical safety and quality improvement projects, and other duties as requested from time to time by the Lead and Chair of Robotic Surgery as he or she may deem necessary. The PA will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiology, nursing, and OR staff to ensure efficient surgical flow and the highest quality patient care. Job Summary The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant required
  • Physician Assistant [State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • Experience as a licensed Physician Assistant preferred

Nice To Haves

  • A competitive candidate will have at least 2 years of laparoscopic surgery experience, with preference for at least 1 year of dedicated robotic surgical experience or completion of an APPAP-accredited PA surgical residency program.
  • Exceptional and motivated new graduates with rotation experience that reflects a dedication to surgery will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
