About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join our healthcare team in Morehead NC. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive patient care across various specialties, including emergency medicine, hospital medicine, primary care, and specialty areas such as critical care, geriatrics, pediatrics, and outpatient services. This role involves performing physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, patient assessments, and assisting with procedures such as suturing, injections, and ventilator management. Experience with EMR systems like Epic, Cerner, and eClinicalWorks is essential. The PA will collaborate closely with physicians and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced clinical environment. This position offers opportunities for involvement in clinical research, telehealth services, and post-acute care.

Requirements

  • Valid Physician Assistant license to practice in North Carolina
  • Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks
  • Experience administering injections, performing physical exams, diagnostic evaluation, and medication administration
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding
  • Ability to work effectively in inpatient or outpatient settings; experience in emergency room or urgent care environments highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques
  • Excellent patient communication skills; ability to perform patient intake and vital signs assessment accurately
  • BLS certification required
  • Ability to work independently within a team while maintaining high standards of patient safety and confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • Critical care experience including ICU or Level I/II trauma center preferred
  • Familiarity with hospital-based procedures like cardiac catheterization or spinal tap is advantageous
  • Additional certifications related to advanced life support are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments
  • Manage acute and chronic conditions including pain management, infectious diseases, and post-operative care
  • Perform procedures such as suturing, injections, phlebotomy, and airway management
  • Utilize EMR systems including Epic, Cerner, and eClinicalWorks for documentation and data management
  • Assist with diagnostic evaluations using medical imaging and laboratory data
  • Administer medications via IV infusion or injections following aseptic techniques
  • Participate in clinical research studies and collect data for quality improvement initiatives
  • Provide triage services in urgent care or emergency settings; manage ventilator support and cardiac catheterization as needed
  • Support discharge planning and post-acute care coordination
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols
  • Engage in health coaching, patient education, and counseling on family planning or addiction counseling as appropriate
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams in hospital settings such as Level I/II trauma centers or NICU/PICU units
