About The Position

The Physician Assistant works collaboratively with the physicians in providing multidisciplinary care for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients requiring services in the outpatient setting. This role, under the direct supervision and collaboration with the medical staff, delivers supportive medical management for a defined patient population within the scope of the PA license, with emphasis on health promotion, education, coordination of care, and emotional support to patients and families while combining the qualities of both nursing and medicine. This role provides health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment under the supervision of the supervising physician, including selecting and furnishing medication, documenting care in medical records, coding patient visits, and submitting patient charges. Acts as a patient advocate in all ethical and legal aspects. Collaboration with department partners in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating departmental goals, objectives, new programs, services, and strategic plans. Plans, implements, and evaluates departmental development and training needs. Expands scientific base by initiating review of literature and disseminating recent innovations and research findings relevant to specialty and patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a Physician Assistant’s training program
  • Evidence of satisfactory performance and completion of proctoring requirements
  • Current license in good standing to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of California
  • Current and active DEA licensure
  • Current BLS certification is required prior to clinical rotation
