About The Position

Major functions include serving as a Physician Assistant for the Surgical Services at West Valley under the general supervision of the Medical Director. Duties include providing inpatient care to surgical patients including General Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Urology patients, coordinating the care of adult patients, and providing patient/family education to promote a smooth transition from admission to discharge. Provide a discharge plan, providing detailed discharge instructions. Major functions include collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, leading the rotational mentoring program, participating in clinical trials, showing initiative in developing and implementing positive improvements for the allied health team. Taking a leadership role in research, teaching, and publishing. Salary range : PA: $74.95 - $100.86/ hourly Senior PA to be determined by relevant experience. Salary range: $82.40-$110.87/hourly

Requirements

  • Degree from PA Program- required
  • CA PA License- required
  • National PA Board Certification-required
  • BLS from AHA or ARC- required
  • ACLS from AHA- required
  • Experience working with surgical patients in inpatient settings -required
  • Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role -required
  • Skill in physical assessment and care of surgical patients- required
  • Skill in teaching-required
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to perform patient history and physical assessment-required
  • Skill and ability in written and verbal communication-required
  • Knowledge of interdisciplinary resources needed to coordinate patient care and facilitate referral-required
  • Knowledge and skill in wound care and treatment-required
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing-required
  • Ability to ready, interpret, apply, and or follow physician orders, policies, procedures, and written/verbal instructions-required
