Advanced Surgical Mobile Eye CareJacksonville, FL

About The Position

We are Advanced Surgical Mobile Eye Care and are seeking a part-time Physician Assistant specializing in the 3 Os (Optical, Optometry and Ophthalmology). We are a successful, 27-year-old company practicing the 3 Os by traveling to local nursing homes in these areas of Florida: Daytona, Jacksonville, St. Petersburg, Tampa, Lakeland, Orlando, and Sarasota. We are seeking a Physician Assistant for the Gainesville, Jacksonville, and St. Augustine areas. This is the perfect opportunity for someone interested in practicing ocular and vision care in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Imagine you can practice the 3 Os (Optical, Optometry and Ophthalmology) for patients who truly need eye care and who cannot advocate for themselves. This group of patients often gradually lose their eyesight and/or have eye infections unnoticed by staff or poorly treated by their nurses. They have a high rate of glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, blepharitis, and a plethora of other eye diseases. These patients often greet you with a big smile when their eyeglasses are dispensed. We are equipped with portable OCT, fundus camera, B-scan, and visual fields to diagnose and monitor eye diseases. If you are compassionate and love ocular pathology, you would be a perfect match for this mode of practice compared to conventional practices. Vision loss affects more than one-third of nursing home residents—often due to limited access to routine eye care. Many residents cannot travel off-site or communicate their visual needs, leaving treatable conditions unaddressed. Advanced Surgical Mobile Eye Care provides on-site, comprehensive eye and vision services to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and individuals with special needs. With over 20 years of experience, our optometrists and technicians specialize in caring for elderly and medically fragile patients with a gentle, patient-focused approach. Using state-of-the-art mobile eye care units, we examine patients where they are—whether in common areas or at bedside. Our mission is to prevent avoidable vision loss, improve quality of life, and help seniors remain safer, more independent, and comfortable through timely, accessible eye care. THE NEED IS GREAT Of all the senses, most people believe sight is the most precious. Yet, functional blindness is a grim reality for 17% of all nursing home residents. Another 19% have lesser forms of visual impairment. Many of these cases could have been helped with regular professional eye care. Most residents of long term care facilities are unable to walk or drive and cannot comfortably leave the facility for eye care. Many are physically unable to communicate that they are having eye problems. THE SOLUTION IS EASY Advanced Surgical Mobile Eye Care is a group of optometrists and technicians with over 20 years of experience servicing residents of nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and intermediate care facilities as well residents with special needs and intellectually disabled. We are a comprehensive eye health and eye care service providing on-site visits. We specialize in the visual problems and treatment of the elderly and infirm and are well trained in examining them in a caring, gentle manner. Our state of the art mobile eye care units can be wheeled into the facility to examine patients in a common area or even in their beds. OUR GOAL Because good vision is integral to the highest possible quality of life, it is our mission to provide optical services to those residents of nursing facilities for whom transportation needs and physical limitations make traditional doctor’s visits difficult or impossible. Our goal is to prevent blindness, enhance vision, provide greater comfort and enjoyment of life to the patient and preserve vision through timely intervention of eye conditions. When vision is maximized, seniors are safer, more independent in daily activities and less demanding of the staff that cares for them.
