About The Position

The College Physician's Assistant at Stony Brook University will provide comprehensive primary and preventive medical care to students, focusing on women's health, primary care, and urgent care. This role emphasizes promoting student health and wellness through education, treatment of acute and chronic conditions, and collaboration with healthcare providers. The PA will also engage in outreach activities and contribute to the overall functioning of Student Health Services.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant training program.
• Current NYS Physician Assistant license.
• Three (3) years of full-time clinical experience as a Physician Assistant.

Nice To Haves

• Additional years (4+) of full-time clinical experience as a Physician Assistant.
• Experience in women's health.
• Experience in a college health setting or outpatient setting.
• Proficiency in spoken and written languages other than English (i.e. Spanish, Korean, Cantonese, Mandarin or Hindi).
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including gynecological exams and STI testing.
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions related to women's health.
• Provide primary care services, including routine physical exams and management of chronic diseases.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging studies.
• Provide urgent care services for acute illnesses and injuries, including minor procedures.
• Prescribe medications and other treatments in accordance with state laws and institutional policies.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients on sexual health, contraceptive options, and disease prevention.
• Coordinate referrals and arrange for medical follow-up as appropriate.
• Participate in campus-wide health promotion activities and educational programs.

Benefits

• $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
