About The Position

Idaho Hand Institute is looking for a Physician Assistant (PA-C) to work alongside our top physicians in Idaho Falls. Our physician assistants are primarily office-based with limited O.R. time. Aiding the physician with care and treatment of new, established and surgical patients including, but not limited to:

Requirements

• Unrestricted Idaho Physician Assistant License
• Must have DEA license to order medications
• Idaho Board of Pharmacy- Practitioner Controlled Substance Registration

Nice To Haves

• Hand and upper extremity experience preferred
• Physician Assistant License (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Perform initial evaluations of new patients, post-op patients, and follow up patients along with the supervising physician
• Evaluate and treat post-op patients independently when supervising physician is away
• Dictate patient office notes in Company EHR system
• Perform suture removal & provide dressing changes
• Order appropriate x-rays & review images with supervising physician
• Order other appropriate diagnostic studies
• Review diagnostic reports to determine if patient needs to be seen sooner than already scheduled
• Alert patients of any urgent results
• Order medications (Must have DEA license)
• Search Idaho Prescription Drug Monitoring program prior to prescribing any narcotics
• Educate patients about condition and post-op course/treatment
• Answer patient phone calls pertaining to medical questions/concerns
• Coordinate patient care needs with administrative members of team and assist as needed with administrative tasks
• Communicate with other medical specialists involved with patient’s care including occupational therapists, trainers and physicians
