About The Position

The physician assistant (PA) has comprehensive responsibilities to manage and assist the Orthopedic department in the areas of inpatient surgery, major joint replacement and spine, peri-operative care, surgical preparation, and outpatient evaluations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Master's Degree Preferred.
• NYS Physician Assistant License.
• Prior experience in either an outpatient Orthopedic setting or inpatient service, verified by a previous employer.

Responsibilities

• Performs all initial Orthopaedics evaluations in the clinic and produce comprehensive clinic notes for review by the Attending.
• Rounds daily in the AM on all major case patients and write notes for Attending review.
• Manages the Orthopaedic department component of discharge planning.
• Reviews all laboratories and imaging tests done as inpatient and outpatient as per departmental policy for the Major Case Service.
• Prepares all pre-surgical packets and chart reviews for upcoming surgery.
• Assists in surgery for the Orthopaedic Department.
