About The Position

Atlantic Health is Seeking a Physician Assistant for AMG Atlantic Vascular Atlantic Health, a leading non-profit healthcare network in New Jersey, is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) to join AMG Atlantic Vascular. As a valued member of our esteemed healthcare network, you will collaborate closely with dedicated physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and other professionals to provide comprehensive care to vascular medicine patients. The PA will have both inpatient responsibilities at several hospital site locations and outpatient duties in Morristown, Rockaway, Pompton Plains, Bridgewater and Clark AMG locations. Flexible availability is required to meet patient needs in both outpatient and inpatient clinical settings. The PA Must be willing to work variable hours, including coverage in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with weekly hours ranging from approximately 40 to 60 hours.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree is required
  • Current PA Certification from an accredited program
  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in New Jersey
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
  • Must be willing to travel to Morristown, Rockaway, Pompton Plains, Bridgewater and Clark AMG locations
  • Must be willing to travel to Morristown, Chilton, Newton, and Overlook Medical Centers.
  • Experience with surgery, cardiology, or critical care is preferred
  • Strong work ethic and a team player who can work independently

Nice To Haves

  • 3–5 years of clinical experience in hospital-based or surgical practice settings.
  • Proven expertise in pre-operative evaluations, hospital rounding, and inpatient consults.
  • Critical care experience in an acute care setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume outpatient care and conduct independent office visits.
  • Proficiency in clinical procedures (injections, suturing, wound care, infection management).
  • Strong diagnostic skills, including ordering, interpreting, and communicating test results.
  • Experience triaging patient calls and coordinating follow-up care.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for treating and providing health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a physician. Educates patients on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders or diseases. Assists patients in the management of chronic diseases and illnesses and promotes health and wellness.
  • Evaluates patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and gathers patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, ultrasounds, radiology and laboratory tests, and interprets test results.
  • Performs treatment procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, enters and completes all postoperative orders for same-day surgery patients, records progress notes, and assists in the provision of continuity of care.
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  • Perform thorough chart reviews and chart checks to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in operating room procedures, including patient positioning, sterile field preparation, intraoperative support, and post-operative handoff as appropriate.
  • Conduct hospital rounds, respond to inpatient consults, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient plans of care; perform wound care, assess surgical incisions, conduct pulse and vascular examinations, review laboratory results, manage IV fluids, Foley catheters, and medications; coordinate daily disposition planning, complete patient transfers and downgrades, consult with appropriate services regarding transfer of care, and complete all discharges and follow-up planning with appropriate documentation.
  • Perform comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pre-operative evaluations to confirm readiness for surgery, including review of consents, laboratory results, imaging, medication reconciliation, and perioperative requirements.
  • Provide support to scheduled outpatient office hours to evaluate, treat, and follow up with patients; answer and triage patient calls; review and coordinate ordered surgical cases; complete patient forms and documentation; and conduct peer-to-peer insurance reviews to support authorization and continuity of care.
  • Triage patient phone calls, review and communicate test results, and escalate clinical concerns appropriately.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned in support of clinical operations for vascular surgery practice.
