About The Position

The physician assistant manages all aspects of the patients care as pertains to comprehensive assessment, diagnosing, and treating medical conditions, with appropriate input from supervising physician, as necessary. It is important that a friendly, caring, courteous, and professional attitude is always displayed as this person has front-line contact with patients and families.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program with a valid unrestricted license to practice issued by the Arizona Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants.
  • Degrees/credits must be from an academically accredited college or university as recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for the Higher Education (CHEA).
  • Good knowledge of medicine as related to medical examination, health history, the development of working diagnoses, and other areas as appropriate to the specific service provided.
  • Must have working knowledge of electronic health records
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer experience with EMR knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient health history and perform physical examination for consultation visits and follow up visits
  • Assess patient needs and establish with supervising physician the plan for care. Order appropriate imaging and laboratory tests as indicated
  • Review results and consult with supervising physician as appropriate and delegated by the supervising physician
  • Prescribe and dispense medication in accordance with state and federal regulations. Document subjective and objective findings in electronic health records
  • Provide basic education and counseling to patients
  • Collaborate with staff and other clinicians to develop, update, and comply with medical and nursing protocols
  • Coordinate medical care with other providers to optimize patient care
  • Manage after hours care, including weekend and evenings as requested by supervising physician
  • Organize patient information to track patient care
  • Communicate verbally either in person or by phone or text to the supervising physician to optimize patient care
  • Electronic health record documentation to be completed within 24 hours of the patient visit
