The Trauma and Acute Care Surgery team has been providing critical care to patients for ten years at Wentworth Douglass Hospital. We provide the full range of care to patients from acute surgical emergencies, shock, severe sepsis, respiratory failure, advanced multi-organ failure, and various traumatic injuries. We are looking for an experienced Physician Assistant to support our team with primary responsibilities to consist of rounding, ED consults, and assisting in the OR with laparoscopic, robotic, and open surgeries. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position. It is a 2nd shift opportunity with the schedule consisting of (4)10-hour shifts from 11:00am-9:00pm. We are looking for someone with flexibility as the shift time may vary based on department needs. Mandatory weekend coverage at least one weekend a month, both Saturday and Sunday day shift. Job Summary The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant required
  • Physician Assistant [State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • 2 years of experience as a PA required

Nice To Haves

  • ATLS certified or ability to obtain after hire

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
