About The Position

The Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) at Baptist Health South Florida plays a critical role in providing patient care in collaboration with surgeons and physicians. This position involves conducting surgical history and physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing comprehensive care plans. The PA will assist in surgeries, perform various procedures, and manage patient care across pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative settings, ensuring continuity and quality of care.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies.
• Licensure as a Physician Assistant in Florida.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• NCCPA Certified Physician Assistant.
• Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license.
• Compliant with state of Florida requirements for CMEs and licensure.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification as per specialty/function.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surgical history and physical exams.
• Order and interpret diagnostic and lab tests.
• Develop and implement patient care plans.
• Write prescriptions and controlled substances as per Delineation of Privileges.
• First assist in surgeries under the supervision of the surgeon.
• Perform surgical procedures in the operating room and clinic settings.
• Manage patients in pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative settings.
• Perform inpatient rounding, consultations, wound care, and bedside procedures.
• Manage outpatient clinics and facilitate patient education.
• Participate in grand rounds and collaborate with staff and administration.
• Provide on-call coverage requiring high-level decision making.
