As we continue to grow, we are building the Pacific Northwest’s most comprehensive and high-value oncology network—projected to double in volume over FTE: 1.0, Shift: Day, Schedule: Monday-Friday Position Summary MultiCare Health System is seeking a Surgical Oncology Physician Assistant to join our well-established, thriving and comprehensive practice. Practicing within a Commission on Cancer (CoC)-accredited comprehensive cancer program, you’ll play a vital role in delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care as part of a multidisciplinary oncology team.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program
  • Washington State Physician Assistant license by the time of employment
  • DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • First assist in surgical procedures and provide perioperative care.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including histories and physical exams.
  • Supports surgical oncologists in both inpatient and outpatient settings, contributing to improved access, continuity, and outcomes for oncology patients.
  • On call for practice and ER as needed for the practice.
  • Independently manages hospital-based care and outpatients.
  • Has specialized training or practice focused on surgical oncology.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with surgical oncologists.
  • Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests and imaging.
  • Coordinates patient care with other specialties.
  • Supervises RN and MAs in the treatment of surgical patients.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, procedures, and recovery.
  • Participate in tumor boards, care conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Document all patient interactions and clinical decisions in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Stay current with best practices, emerging therapies, and clinical guidelines through continuing education and training.
