The physician assistant (PA) will work closely with an experienced surgeon in the areas of hernia, gallbladder, appendix, skin and soft tissue, and colon surgeries. Providers work in convenient block schedule rotations to ensure excellent work/life balance. Settings include inpatient, outpatient clinic, surgical centers, and some shared on-call duties (in partnership with the surgeon). In the inpatient setting, PAs round on 5 to 8 patients per day. In the clinic, PAs have an average of 5 appointments per day (and work short / half days). Surgical days vary in schedule and case load, based on types of cases scheduled. In all settings, there are clinical assistants and/or nurses available to assist the providers. The new PA will work collaboratively with the surgeon and serve as first assist in hospital and surgical center settings, and will have autonomous practice in the clinic.
