About the position

Under supervision and in collaboration with the physician staff, the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) performs physical examinations and treats common episodic and chronic healthcare problems with an emphasis on health maintenance and disease prevention. This position is designed for healthcare professionals, such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants, who possess advanced training and expertise in their respective fields. The primary responsibilities include providing patient care in the clinic setting, performing in-office procedures, and focusing on patient education. As an APP, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality healthcare services and ensuring excellent patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient status by obtaining health history through patient/family interviews and chart reviews.
  • Orders/performs appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests.
  • Develops and implements treatment plan by prescribing/dispensing medications and/or injections.
  • Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments.
  • Educates patients regarding health promotion/illness prevention.
  • Communicates appropriate case management information to other professionals and community agencies.
  • Participates in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development, and other continuing education and quality assurance activities.
  • Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patient.
  • Provides monitoring and continuity of care between visits according to treatment plan.
  • Performs all other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  • Must be certified by the National Commission on Certification and licensed in the State of California.
  • Active and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in state of CA.
  • Must hold current national board certification by first day of work and maintain.
  • Must hold an active and transferable DEA license to California as required by the clinical specialty.
  • Must be eligible for payer enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid.
  • BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association) required.
  • 2-5 years of PA experience preferred.
  • 2 years in specialty area highly desired.
  • Prior experience in a medical office environment preferred.
