About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA) complements and assists the work of the attending faculty, surgical fellows, and surgical residents to provide integrative inpatient and outpatient care in the surgery service. Our Plastic Surgery faculty offer state of the art care for patients with a wide range of problems arising from congenital deformity, cancer, trauma and burns. We offer a variety of surgical treatment including craniofacial and cleft lip surgery, breast reconstruction, microvascular reconstruction, hand surgery, and treatment of complex wounds. Our surgeons also perform a complete selection of cosmetic procedures of the face, breast and body. In all of our reconstructive and cosmetic surgery we endeavor to provide comprehensive care that is tailored to the individual patient's needs. Full assumption of these responsibilities will follow a training period during which time the PA will be monitored by a physician supervisor in order to determine that knowledge and skills have reached the appropriate level. The PA will meet productivity expectations as set forth by the Section Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, performing any duties related to patient care activities that are appropriate and clearly delineated. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $96.97 - $130.49 (Hourly Rate). Requirements

  • Active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA).
  • California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
  • Hold current national board certification (NCCPA) by first day of work and maintain.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
  • Graduation from a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the PA (ARC-PA).
  • Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day.
  • Current AHA BLS.
  • Current AHA ACLS.
  • UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
