About The Position

ChenMed is transforming healthcare for seniors with a family-owned and physician-led approach, aiming to improve the health and well-being of the populations they serve. The company is rapidly expanding and seeks to rescue more seniors from inadequate health care. The Physician Assistant, Specialty (Orthopedic) is responsible for promoting and maintaining health by providing medical services under the supervision of a Market Clinical Director and/or other physician. This role requires the ability to function both independently and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, consulting with the clinical leadership team to ensure compliance with guidelines. The position may involve participation in risk and quality management programs, clinical meetings, and other meetings, while adhering to strict departmental goals, standards of performance, regulatory compliance, quality patient care, and policies and procedures. The incumbent will function independently as a certified physician assistant in collaboration and consultation with a licensed patient care team physician, practicing in accordance with a written or electronic collaborative practice agreement.

Must be detail-oriented, and able to pay close attention to patient charts, medications, and follow-up on details of patient care
Basic computer skills and some knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, database, and presentation software
Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally and nationwide up to 75% of the time
Spoken and written fluency in English
This job requires use and exercise of independent judgment
Master’s Degree required
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required
Current DEA number from the DEA for schedule II-V controlled substances may be required based on State of practice
Minimum one (1) plus year experience working in a Orthopedic practice
Successful completion of program recognized by the accreditation Review Commission on Education on the Physician Assistant, appropriate state licensure, and certification

Responsibilities

Contributes to physician's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives.
Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays and laboratory studies; interpreting test results.
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.
Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance.

Orthopedic duties include identifying and managing orthopedic patients, ordering appropriate orthopedic imaging / tests, and administering orthopedic specific therapeutic interventions as needed.
