About The Position

Johns Hopkins Hospital is seeking an experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our Cardiothoracic Transplant Specialty team . This role is integral in providing specialized care to patients undergoing advanced heart failure treatments, mechanical circulatory support, heart and heart/lung transplantation. Why Join Our Team? Requirements

  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) licensed in Maryland (or eligible for licensure).
  • Prior experience in cardiac surgery, transplant, critical care, or cardiology strongly preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and commitment to patient-centered care .

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in post-transplant care, mechanical circulatory support, and advanced heart failure management a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive pre- and post-transplant care for patients with advanced heart failure.
  • Assist in managing mechanical circulatory support devices (LVADs, ECMO, etc.) and post-transplant immunosuppression.
  • Perform patient evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with transplant surgeons and cardiologists in rounding, patient management, and procedural assistance .
  • Educate patients and families on transplant procedures, medications, and long-term care plans.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research efforts to advance cardiac transplant outcomes.
