About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA) in this PRN role will provide essential "as needed" medical care to support the UAMS Ortho Clinic team in Northwest Arkansas. This position involves conducting physicals, diagnosing illnesses, prescribing treatments, and performing minor procedures to ensure comprehensive patient care. The PA will work flexibly to cover shifts for absent staff or address special situations, contributing to the clinic's operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include managing patient care, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, maintaining accurate medical records, and educating patients about their health conditions. Additionally, the PA will collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while serving as a resource and advocate within the healthcare environment. Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • PA with State Medical Board
  • Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.
  • National certification (NCCPA)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and diagnostic procedures
  • Strong clinical skills for conducting physicals, diagnosing illnesses, and performing minor procedures.
  • Proficiency in prescribing treatments and managing patient health issues.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills.
  • Attention to detail in documenting medical records and ordering diagnostic tests.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic, "as needed" role.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in orthopedics or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Extend the patient care and administrative services of UAMS physicians.
  • Provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, and prescribe medical treatments in collaboration with designated physicians.
  • Work autonomously and with various team members to diagnose and manage patients' health issues, serving as a healthcare resource, consultant, and patient advocate.
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary care, ensuring timely and appropriate consultations and care delivery.
