About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA) Telemedicine is a licensed, certified healthcare provider who provides direct patient care and has prescriptive authority. This role involves assessing the physical and mental condition of patients through comprehensive examinations and medical histories, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing treatments, and formulating patient treatment plans. The PA will work primarily in a telemedicine setting, providing virtual primary care visits and collaborating with a team that includes a Medical Director and other Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). The position offers a hybrid work model, with primarily remote work and occasional in-office days in Temple, TX. Candidates may also be considered for fully remote work if they are within driving distance of BSW regions. Requirements

  • Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in Texas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
  • Graduation from an accredited program.
  • 5+ years of experience as an APP, preferably in Family Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the physical and mental condition of patients by performing and obtaining comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories.
  • Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
  • Prescribe or recommend medical drug therapies or other treatments.
  • Perform procedures following approved policies, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost.
  • Recommend interventions to change behavior linked to health risks.
  • Formulate and implement comprehensive patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based medicine, and standards of care.
  • Collaborate with physicians and team members when appropriate.
  • Evaluate patient's response to care and its effectiveness.
  • Counsel patients and families on medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
  • Maintain appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes.
  • Initiate timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope of practice or expertise.
  • Perform invasive procedures specific to scope of practice and provider's level of proficiency as delegated by supervising Physician.
