About The Position

The Physician Assistant in General Surgery at Texas Health Plano is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a supportive and collaborative environment. This role involves performing clinical procedures, participating in multidisciplinary team rounds, and ensuring effective communication with patients and healthcare providers. The position offers opportunities to engage in both robotic and open surgical procedures, contributing to the growth of the General Surgery Service Line.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA accredited Physician Assistant program required.
  • Three years of Physician Assistant experience preferred.
  • One year of General Surgery experience preferred.
  • Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas upon hire required.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire required.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required.
  • NCCPA certification upon hire preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a Level II Trauma Facility.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Responsibilities

  • Performs history and physical examinations (H&Ps) and writes delegated physician orders including medications.
  • Actively participates with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate communication and planning; rounds on patients.
  • Documents actions, assessments, progress notes, and plans in the EHR utilizing approved protocols, order sets, and navigators as appropriate.
  • Contributes to positive patient experience through effective patient communication and coordination with the multidisciplinary care team.
  • Meets regulatory requirements, NPSGs, clinical and other KPIs, safety standards; analyzes performance and demonstrates fiscally sound decisions.
  • Performs clinical procedures authorized by the physician within scope of training and medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations.
