About The Position

Where Kids and Families are Always First MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital is the state-designated Level II Pediatric Trauma Center and the only pediatric hospital in Washington’s South Sound Region dedicated to a comprehensive network of health services for children and adolescents. Our vision is to be the highest quality and safest place for children to receive care, where every child has a medical home and is supported by nationally recognized services and experience. Mary Bridge Children’s multi-disciplinary approach to care includes pediatric experts for emergency services, inpatient care, and outpatient specialty clinics, all specializing in kids and their unique needs. MultiCare Health System is seeking an experienced nurse practitioner (ARNP) or physician assistant (PA) to join our Mary Bridge Emergency Department (ED) team: Our hospital serves as one of the two level 2 pediatric trauma centers in the State of Washington and is staffed by fellowship trained Pediatric Emergency Medicine attendings, APPs and dedicated pediatric nurses. (Resident physicians and APPs trainees also rotate through the MBH ED.) The APP candidate should be someone who works well in a fast paced, busy and somewhat unpredictable clinical environment and who can act independently as well as with a team. The APP will function as a physician dyad working collaboratively with our emergency team to evaluate and treat ill and injured children.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience as a licensed ARNP/PA in pediatric health care
  • Washington State Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license
  • DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)

Nice To Haves

  • Two plus years-experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care to the full complement of pediatric patient ages 0 days to 21 years with diverse medical and traumatic chief complaints
  • Serve as a member of the team supervised by a PEM physician assessing, initiating care and providing treatment for all patients from low to complex, higher acuity patients including acting as a member of the ED trauma team
  • Perform procedures including but not limited to laceration repair, abscess incision & drainage, lumbar puncture, splint and/or cast application, airway management
  • Participate in department meetings, education and quality and performance improvement activities as needed
