The group also offers outpatient surgery and endoscopy, imaging, cardiac testing, and infusion. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Physician Assistant to join our Orthopedics team. The Physician Assistant will provide late shift coverage in a hospital setting. This role involves collaborating with the day PA, supporting surgical cases, and providing orthopedic department coverage. Flexibility in scheduling is available to accommodate either shorter or longer shifts. Typical hours: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM Flexible scheduling options of 5, 8-hour shifts or 4, 10-hour shifts. The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant required
  • Physician Assistant [State License]
  • 2 years of experience as a PA required

  • Experience working as a PA in Orthopedics preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide hospital floor coverage between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM
  • Assist in the Operating Room for late surgical cases as needed
  • Manage consults after 3:00 PM as needed
  • Provide phone coverage for the Orthopedic Department from 5:00 PM to 7:00/8:00 PM
  • Participate in weekend on-call rotation approximately every 8 weeks, with additional reimbursement
  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
