About The Position

The Physician Assistant in Orthopedics at Wentworth Health Partners will support the Orthopedics team by providing comprehensive patient care, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes. This full-time role involves working Monday through Friday with rotating weekends and holidays as needed, under the supervision of the Medical Director and operational direction of the Practice Manager.

Requirements

• Master's degree in physician assistant studies required.
• Certified New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant licensure required upon hire.
• Prior Orthopedics and surgical first-assist experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document comprehensive orthopedic history and physical exams.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including splint, brace or cast application/removal, wound care/debridement, suturing/suture removal, injection of steroid and anesthetic agents, and joint aspiration.
• Educate, instruct, and counsel patients and families.
• Order and interpret x-rays, MRIs, and other diagnostic tests as needed.
• Determine and coordinate treatment plans and follow-up schedules.
• Follow up with patients regarding results and ongoing treatment.
• Consult with appropriate resources and refer to specialties as needed.
• Document patients' treatment, response, and progress notes in EPIC according to Medical Staff policies.
• Review patient cases with on-call physician as needed.
• Manage in-basket messages and phone calls.
• Act as first assist in the operating room.
• Provide coverage for the Orthopedic Walk-In as needed.
