About The Position

MyMichigan Medical Center Tawas is seeking a driven and enthusiastic Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. This position will be hired through Vituity, a leader in Emergency Medicine services. Under the general direction of the Medical Director and in consultation with a supervising physician, examines and treats patients in an acute care setting for episodic visits and on-going care of chronic and/or acute health conditions.

Requirements

  • Previous work experience in a family practice office, Ambulatory Care Center and/or emergency department preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility in responding to the various demands of multiple patients in an acute care setting: Main Emergency Department, “fast track,” rapid medical evaluation (RME) or provider-at-triage area, ACC, UCC and/or detention center.
  • Ability to make critical decisions in a timely manner with a minimal amount of supervision
  • Patience and emotional stability to respond to patients and staff members in a compassionate and professional manner.
  • Stamina to focus on patient care and accurate documentation of the visit for long periods of time, working rapidly for the duration of an 8, 10 or 12 hour shift.
  • Manual dexterity to perform all of the procedures expected in an acute care setting such a suturing, eye and ear irrigation, foreign body removal, etc…
  • Ability to read reports and to use a paper charting system and electronic medical records system.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk quickly for 50-75% of a work shift.
  • Tolerance for high levels of emotional stress in an environment of crisis response.
  • Stamina for an irregular schedule of day, evening and night shifts as well as weekends and holidays.
  • Must possess a license from the State Licensing Board.

Responsibilities

  • Examines patient:
  • Develops a treatment plan according to the PA and/or NP state regulatory guidelines as well as site-specific practice guidelines:
  • Documents patient encounter and medical decision making within billing guidelines to manage medical-legal risk and maximize reimbursement.
  • Promotes efficient patient flow, good patient rapport and collaboration with patient care team.
  • May participate in other clinical or administrative duties such as patient-call backs, culture follow-ups, x-ray discrepancy follow-ups, etc.
