About The Position

Northwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for either a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to work in our Inpatient Oncology / Hospital Medicine department. The APP works one on one with an MD (either an oncologist or a hospitalist) to serve as the primary care provider for the patient in the hospital. This involves work up of general medicine problems (DVT, PE, infection, pulmonary, cardiac, nephrology, neurology, endocrine disorders etc), chemotherapy administration monitoring, chemotherapy and immunotherapy related toxicities, complications of malignancy, end of life care and supportive care needs. Several other APPs are on the service each day. This position is all inpatient Schedule: M-F, 12-hour shifts; required to work one in four weekends and 2 holidays/year; no nights

Requirements

Master’s degree from an accredited school/college of nursing OR master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
Acute care certification required for APRNs
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by a national certifying body as approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APRN Board.
OR Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program/Current license as a Physician Assistant in the State of Illinois.
Privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO)
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (issued by the American Heart Association) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required as specified by department
Controlled substance license and DEA registration required as specified by the department
