About The Position

The CORE Institute's fellowship-trained physicians provide specialized care in various orthopedic and neurological areas. The position is for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner responsible for providing medical care as delegated by the surgeon. The APP will work as part of a team with another PA and the surgeon, managing their own clinic schedule and sharing OR time. The role includes taking call for inpatient and outpatient phone consultations in rotation with other APPs. This position is eligible for a monthly productivity and stipend bonus.

Requirements

  • CPR and ACLS Certification.
  • For Physician Assistant: BA/BS, MS preferred. Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program. Active or scheduled NCCPA Certification.
  • For Nurse Practitioner: Current Arizona license for Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Certification by national certifying body as approved by the Arizona APRN Board.
  • NP requirement to act as first assist in the OR includes completion of a program covering the AORN Standards for RN First Assist education.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of ortho or neurosurgery experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient health status including state of wellness and compliance with the care plan.
  • Determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Provide acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, performing physicals, monitoring therapies, administering injections and medications, and suturing wounds.
  • Triage patient calls and evaluate patient problems.
  • Respond to emergencies including the use of CPR.
  • Document patient information and care provided in the patient record and maintain patient statistics.
  • Educate patients and families as appropriate to provide continuity of care.
  • Assist physicians with surgeries in the operating room.
  • Participate in rounds at the hospital and respond to patient calls received after hours and on weekends.
  • Consult with other staff as necessary.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
