About The Position

The Surgical Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner, is a skilled member of the allied health care team who is qualified both academically and clinically to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician. The APC works within a cooperative unit, utilizing team effort with health care providers, co-workers, and the public to provide positive patient interaction. This role supports the largest Orthopedic group within MCHS at a level II trauma center. The schedule will be Monday-Friday 7-5 and rotating call 1:7 .

Requirements

  • Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certifications of Physician Assistants/ Nurse Practitoner.
  • Must be eligible to obtain or already hold a current State of Wisconsin Physician Assistant licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
  • Affiliated staff privileges at associated hospital may be required (varies by department/location).
  • Employee may not at any time have been or be excluded from participation in any federally funded program, including Medicare and Medicaid.

Nice To Haves

  • One year in specialty.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
