About The Position

The Neurosurgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is a skilled medical provider on the surgical care team and is qualified both academically and clinically, to assist with a variety of procedures, and provide diagnostic and therapeutic neurosurgical services to patients in the outpatient, inpatient, ambulatory, trauma, and emergency settings. The Neurosurgery PA/NP is required to practice within their professional scope, license, and granted privileges based on one’s personal education, training, and experience. The Neurosurgery PA/NP works collaboratively with a variety of health care personnel, including physicians, nursing staff, case managers, and other health care disciplines utilizing a team approach to patient care.

Requirements

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited PA Program or Nurse Practitioner Certification awarded by a national certifying body.
• Active PA/NP license to practice in the practicing state of employment.
• Active PA/NP board certification.
• If NP - Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Nurse Compact License
• Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification AND Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 3 months of hire.
• Affiliated staff privileges at associated hospital may be required (varies by department/location).
• Employee may not at any time have been or be excluded from participation in any federally funded program, including Medicare and Medicaid.
• Employee must immediately notify his/her manager or the Health System’s Compliance Officer if he/she is threatened with exclusion or becomes excluded from any federally funded program

Nice To Haves

• One year in neurological surgery, neurology, or surgical specialty.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
