Northwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for either a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to work in our outpatient Neuro-Oncology department at the Lou & Jean Malnati Brain Tumor Institute. Work alongside world-renowned experts in the field taking care of patients with a variety of brain and spinal tumors. The following duties and responsibilities are included, but not limited to: Triage of high volume, high acuity patient messages and on demand visits Rapid hospital follow up care coordination visits Neurologic symptom evaluation and management/urgent add-ons Chemotherapy plan input into Beacon Signing chemotherapy plans in Beacon Systemic medical therapy/chemotherapy/immunotherapy checks/visits Pre-admission chemotherapy assessment Ommaya/Intrathecal chemotherapy Complex chemotherapy educations Chemotherapy consents Peer to peers Schedule: M-F, days no nights/weekends/holidays/on-call Essential Functions: Demonstrates clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities which may include diagnosis and management of a wide range of health problems. Responsible for health outcome of an assigned patient population. Confers with collaborating physician and other health professionals in area of clinical expertise. Develops appropriate educational systems for patients, families and staff in areas of expertise. Mentors graduate students in aspects of advanced practice and patient care. Actively participates in quality improvement and/or research pertinent to area of expertise.
