About The Position

The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (Advanced Practice Provider, APP) in Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care serves as an additional patient care provider, augmenting and extending patient services provided by the health care team. The PA/NP will work closely with members of the team and have a reasonable amount of autonomy in the care and medical decision-making for patients. Our APP's work at several locations, including the Saratoga Hospital Emergency Department, Emergent Care, and Urgent Care locations. A few highlights of responsibilities: Assessment and management of patients, including ordering diagnostic tests, consultations, therapeutic interventions or procedures, and the implementation and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care. Provides comprehensive healthcare sensitive to the needs of the population, including assessment, diagnosing, prescribing, counselling, and referrals where appropriate enabling patient choice in provision of care, complementing roles of MD and multidisciplinary team The provider augments a physician's ability to provide medical services to patients; collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations and provide direct patient care services. Conduct patient assessments and complete physical examinations, collect clinical data including vital signs, collecting specimens, prepare patients for tests, therapy, or treatments, order and interpret medical laboratory test results, diagnose medical condition of patient, administer medications or treatments and perform minor surgery Completes accurate patient documentation for effective billing, maintain accurate and detailed patient medical reports Serves as a resource and team leader during clinical shifts to ensure the smooth flow of patient processing, treatment and discharge including patient triaging. • Acts as resource to staff and implements educational programs, as needed.

Requirements

  • New York State License to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner by the time of credentialing.
  • Maintains current level of knowledge relative to professional practice.
  • Maintains all required professional documentation, such as license, certifications, infection control, ACLS/BLS, DEA as well as system requirements.
