GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the general guidance of the medical director, the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with diseases and adverse health conditions following the written guidelines approved by the department. The Interventional Radiology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides comprehensive clinical and procedural care for patients undergoing image-guided interventions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The APP supports timely patient access, continuity of care, and high-quality outcomes while contributing to institutional goals related to efficiency, safety, and patient experience. Daily workflow and procedural volume vary based on hospital census and outpatient demand. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing OR a Masters in Physician Assistant studies
  • State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license required
  • AHA/ARC BLS certification required

Nice To Haves

  • 1 to 3 years’ experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in a specialty clinical setting, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform image-guided procedures; including lumbar puncture, myelogram, paracentesis, thoracentesis, thyroid biopsies, and deep organ biopsies
  • Perform aspirations, drain placements, and other procedures within scope and credentialing
  • Assist physicians during complex neurovascular interventional cases
  • Evaluate patients and review imaging/labs prior to procedures
  • Obtain informed consent and provide patient education
  • Coordinate anticoagulation management and procedural readiness
  • Provide sterile assistance and monitor patients during procedures
  • Conduct post-procedure assessments and manage complications within scope
  • Provide discharge instructions and coordinate follow-up care
  • Support inpatient consult workflow and outpatient procedural access
  • Document procedures and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
