About The Position

The Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner will provide clinical support in a busy orthopedic practice environment, with a focus on total joint replacement and joint reconstruction, including hip and knee arthroplasty. Working under physician supervision, this role supports patients through evaluations, follow-ups, diagnostic review, and treatment planning for both operative and non-operative orthopedic conditions. Responsibilities include medication management and refills, select new patient visits, imaging review (X-ray and MRI), and ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests for pre- and post-operative total joint patients. This position is full-time and supports orthopedic physicians specializing in total hip and knee replacement and complex joint reconstruction. The ideal candidate demonstrates independence, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Orthopedic experience preferred; other specialties considered

  • EMR skills preferred (NextGen or EPIC a plus)
  • Highly organized and able to multitask in a fast-paced practice
  • California Physician Assistant license upon hire
  • Prescribing and dispensing privileges in California
  • DEA certificate (or evidence of application upon hire and obtained within 90 days)
  • Active California NP license upon hire
  • National certification (AANP or ANCC)
  • Furnishing license and prescribing authority in California

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding orthopedic care and patient service
  • Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and clinical team members on total joint replacement and joint reconstruction cases
  • Conduct patient histories and comprehensive musculoskeletal assessments
  • Perform follow-up visits and limited new patient evaluations for hip and knee arthroplasty patients
  • Review and interpret diagnostic imaging and tests, including pre- and post-operative joint replacement imaging
  • Order appropriate diagnostic studies and treatments for joint reconstruction patients
  • Manage medications and refills within scope of practice
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness and adjust care plans accordingly
  • Assist the surgeon in the operating room for all total joint replacement procedures, including total hip and total knee arthroplasty
  • Participate in surgical setup, intraoperative assistance, and immediate post-operative care for joint reconstruction cases
  • Assist with pre-operative planning, patient education, and post-operative follow-up for total joint patients
  • Make referrals and document care in a compliant, timely manner
  • Participate in clinical initiatives, education, and performance improvement
