About The Position

Rogers Behavioral Health is a not-for-profit behavioral health system with a long history. For over 100 years we have been providing top quality psychiatric services to our patients and performing cutting edge research and are one of the leading healthcare providers in our field. RBH offers adults, as well as child and adolescent patients in our communities, the ability to receive care at multiple level of services including: inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient services. The three primary hospitals are located in Wisconsin, and numerous clinics spread from coast to coast in Wisconsin and 9 other states, including California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Washington. In this role, with the support of a collaborating physician, the provider will primarily serve as a hospitalist in our inpatient and residential departments, and working alongside our psychiatric providers in a multi-faceted treatment team model of providing care. This role is Monday through Friday evenings (preferred schedule 5pm-1am, can be flexible) and includes one weekend/month.

Requirements

  • Be licensed in the state as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
  • Board-eligible AHP.
  • Board certification preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited college or university.
  • Successful completion of required practical training as required by graduating educational institution and licensing body in the areas of primary care medicine.
  • Two to four years experience working as a hospitalist provider in another licensed hospital, preferred.
  • Leadership and/or supervisory experience in a behavioral health organization is preferred.
  • Experience with process improvement implementation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attend patients at the site and assist with patient coverage at the locations assigned by Employer.
  • Conduct medication management sessions with patients.
  • Conduct patient medical evaluations and assessments.
  • Conduct history and physical exams.
  • Create patient treatment plans and manage updates.
  • Perform patient and family education.
  • Participate in team and unit meetings.
  • Create discharge plans.
  • Participate in the established call schedule.
  • Take emergency call for medical care units.
  • Round on patients as assigned.
  • Serve on hospital committees as assigned.
  • Coordinate care for patients transferring to or from other hospitals for medical needs.
  • Read EKGs and other medical diagnostic tests.
  • Complete all charting and documentation within 24 hours.
  • Monitor all labs and diagnostic tests for both current and discharging patients.
  • Communicate with emergency room or other providers when transferring care.
  • Conduct follow-up visits with patients with chronic diseases.
  • Provide hospitalist and primary care consultation services as needed.
  • Provide 24-hour coverage for patients.
  • Meet patient productivity standards.
  • Complete all coding and documentation standards in compliance with organizational expectations.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with all contracted payors.
  • Review all denials of service from all payors that are deemed for medical reasons.
  • Interface with referring parties, the psychiatrist, primary care physicians or AHPs, to coordinate care, aftercare.
  • Market Employer as appropriate, to include off-site meetings and marketing activities.
  • Review potential admissions, pending cases, and declined admissions, as needed, to assure Employer policy execution and compliance with EMTALA.
  • Serve as an advocate for the organization.
  • Provide support, information, education and services.
  • Participate in Employer’s quality assurance and performance improvement activities and meetings.
  • Take an active role in identifying new program development opportunities for patient care services and Employer.
  • Participate in community education of behavioral health issues.
