About The Position

The South Bend Clinic is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide medical care to patients under the supervision of a collaborative physician, physician site leader, and practice manager. The PA/NP will work within a detailed scope of practice that includes performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and educating patients and their families. The role requires a commitment to patient-centered care and may involve travel to other practice sites. The position is integral to optimizing clinical outcomes and ensuring high-quality healthcare delivery in the ambulatory care setting.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved school for Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioners with a Master's Degree.
  • National certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in applicable specialty required (ANCC).
  • Current state licensure in good standing as PA or Advanced Practice Nurse and RN.
  • Current CPR certification must be maintained (BLS).
  • Active Mid-level Practitioner Controlled Substance License and DEA License may be required based on prescriptive authority.
  • Minimum 1-2 years working as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and records complete physical examinations to evaluate specific health problems.
  • Analyzes and interprets data, formulates presenting problems and causes, and establishes care plans.
  • Evaluates and treats acute minor illnesses and traumas according to established practice protocols.
  • Orders laboratory, x-ray, and other non-invasive diagnostic tests and procedures in consultation with the collaborative physician.
  • Prescribes medications under the scope of practice with collaborative physician oversight.
  • Instructs patients and families in proper healthcare, illness prevention measures, and home care.
  • May make daily rounds of hospitalized patients under supervision and communication with the collaborative physician.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation of patient-related information in the medical chart.
