About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) role at Corewell Health involves providing comprehensive medical management, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients in the Emergency Center. Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA recognized PA program or a Master's in Nursing.
  • Previous Emergency APP experience preferred.
  • Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner by the state of Michigan.
  • BLS, ACLS, and DEA certification as required by position; ATLS required within 6 months of hire.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and possesses excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in emergency medicine or acute care settings.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize discriminative judgment in medical management, including assessment of medical and psychosocial status.
  • Conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations and condition assessments.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies, developing diagnostic impressions and care plans.
  • Collaborate with physicians to create plans of care based on current guidelines.
  • Request consultations from health professionals as indicated by patient conditions.
  • Write medication orders within prescriptive authority according to state and federal regulations.
  • Perform procedures as indicated by patient needs and PA education.
  • Document medical findings in H&P, progress notes, procedure notes, and discharge instructions.
  • Instruct, educate, and counsel patients and families on health status, test results, and preventive care.
