About The Position

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. The position is for a Physician Assistant in Oklahoma City, OK, with a salary range of $100,161 - $174,061 per year. The work schedule is full-time, with outpatient clinic hours from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. The role requires some travel (25% or less) and does not allow for telework.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant.
  • Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) or in the process of taking the exam.
  • Currently hold or will hold a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize knowledge of pain physiology and specialized tests to evaluate, screen, and diagnose patients with complex pain.
  • Appropriately prescribe medications and educate on proper use of anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers, neuropathic pain medications, and opioids.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of opioid dependence and treat patients with opioid disorder in the setting of chronic pain.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary care for chronic pain patients with various rehabilitation programs.
  • Collaborate with a large multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals to establish diagnoses and formulate care plans.
  • Lead group discussions on chronic pain management and provide patient education on medication management and rehabilitation care.
  • Communicate respectfully with a diverse patient population from various cultural and military backgrounds.
